Peegie

This page is in memory of Peegie, the original answer bunny (see Ask Peegie for her answers to questions our readers asked). She is succeeded by Eddie who will now be answering questions. Peegie's human had the following words to say about her beloved Peegie:

PJ.....Peegie.....Where do I start?

I adopted PJ in May of 2003 from the House Rabbit Connection. 3 Bunnies had not been formed yet and a few months after losing my first rabbit I was looking to adopt from rescue. She was one of several saved from a terrible place outside Boston, MA, and I believe one of the only ones remaining from that rescue.

It was love at first site when I saw her at her foster home. She hid behind a box after finishing the snack of parsley I brought her and then popped her head up checking if I was still there. She adapted nicely to her new home and after a few months had the run of the house. One day when I was home sick and napping on the couch she disappeared. I found her at the top of the stairs looking down at me with that "what?" expression bunnies have. To see a lop going down stairs ears flopping is just too cute for words! She periodically made quick trips upstairs at night, I guess securing the upper deck before I went to bed. And of course there was the time I caught her sitting in the middle of the dining room table in a box of jig saw puzzle pieces.

Peeg was an only bun and wanted it that way. She didn't like anyone touching or using her stuff. I always said she was me but in fur.

I know I gave her the best five years of her life and she gave me the same. I miss her something awful. But as a friend said, in time the happy memories I have of her will be stronger than the sorrow of losing her.

I thank everyone for their kind words and support. And for now...

I will not look back for there is sorrow.
I will not look for today for there is longing.
I will look forward for there is OUR tomorrow.
