Shelters In Crisis!!
Shelters across the country are in crisis right now, overloaded with unwanted rabbits who are in danger of being euthanized. Blame it on Easter "impulse purchases" or simply the amazing reproductive capabilities of rabbits, but once again this year, If you can find room in your home, please consider helping your local shelter or rescue by adopting or fostering a bunny in need - you'll be saving a life. Literally.

Easter And Bunnies Don't Mix

Please Don't Give Pets As Gifts!!
Shelters and rescues are inundated with animals that were given as gifts to people who didn't really want them and don't know how to take care of them. They expect this year to be no different, beginning on the day after Christmas. Please don't give a live animal as a gift - give a stuffed plush toy instead, or consider making a donation to a rescue or shelter in someone's name as a gift. Just please don't give a live animal as a gift - it requires a lifelong commitment to the pet, and too often they get shortchanged. Thanks!!

Update January 27, 2008:
Mango is healing quickly and is scheduled to be spayed this week. She is gowing quickly, and becoming a very silly girl.

Many thanks to all who have helped to make Mango's care an recovery possible.

Your donations and sponsorship enabe us to help buns like Mango, and those that have come before her, and those that will come after her.

So everyone give yourselves a big hug, and know that all the rabbits in 3 Bunnies are doing binkies in your honor!!

Thank You!!
Update January 7, 2008:
Mango had her surgery and the vet feels that she was able to get all of the abscess. As you can see from the pictures, it was a very large area. Mango is restricted to no activity, but is already eating like a champ and feeling much better. She still has a way to go, but the prognosis is good (plus Mango is being such a good girl about her medication!)
Update January 2, 2008: Mango developed a large mass on her back which has been diagnosed as an abscess related to the bite wounds. She is going in for emergency surgery, and we are all anticipating that everything will be fine. This will be expensive and require follow-up/recovery care. The surgery quote thus far is between 500.00 to 1000.00 dollars. Despite what Mango has been thru and will go thru she remains a loving and trusting bun. Mango is available for sponsorship
This precious female Red New Zealand, was surrendered to a shelter after "the kids showed no interest in her."

Around 4 months old (as of December 2007) , and approx 6-7lbs.

It was noticed that Mango has numerous bite wounds to her shoulders and back (they appear to be from another rabbit), so she was immediately taken into 3 Bunnies for care. Her wounds are healing, and Mango is such a sweet, gentle bun. She does not mind being held, and likes having her face kissed. She so enjoys the TLC that her foster moms are giving her. Mango is one wonderful rabbit!

Note: Mango is not yet available, while we let her recover.

Thanks for reading!!
