Shelters In Crisis!!
|
Shelters across the country are in crisis right now, overloaded with unwanted rabbits
who are in danger of being euthanized. Blame it on Easter "impulse purchases" or
simply the amazing reproductive capabilities of rabbits, but once again this year,
If you can find room in your home, please consider helping your local shelter or rescue by
adopting or fostering a bunny in need - you'll be saving a life. Literally.

Easter And Bunnies Don't Mix
|
Please Don't Give Pets As Gifts!!
|
Shelters and rescues are inundated with animals that were given as
gifts to people who didn't really want them and don't know how to take
care of them. They expect this year to be no different, beginning on
the day after Christmas. Please don't give a live animal as a gift -
give a stuffed plush toy instead, or consider making a donation to a
rescue or shelter in someone's name as a gift. Just please don't give
a live animal as a gift - it requires a lifelong commitment to the
pet, and too often they get shortchanged. Thanks!!

Update October 1, 2007:
Ah.... Filmore. He and Trinket are doing good. Some minor issues with
stasis, but noticing the signs quickly and taking action, stopped any
major problems. Filmore is still such a happy bun, and always has a
smile for you!
Update July 10, 2006:
Filmore has been a cheerful, happy-go-lucky bun, despite his head
tilt. He has watched many buns get adopted, and many find companions,
yet he has neither, but still kept a positive attitude.
Recently it was noted Filmore did not seem as happy, spending more
time lying with his stuffed bunny, even passing up food at times. Time
to take action!
Filmore met several buns, but either they were not very nice right
off, or seemed to get "put off" when Filmore started twirling in
circles. Poor Filmore!
Then he met
Trinket. This little "Diva" started grooming Filmore,
and playing with him. OH MY! Talk about the happy twirl! Filmore was
sooooo happy, he started spinning like a top, and had to be calmed!
(Trinket was a bit stunned by this, but stayed out of his way, then
gave him a little but nip, as if to say, "Cool it! I like you
already!!")
So now Trinket and Filmore are a pair, and available for
adoption. Pictures will be coming of the happy couple!
Note: Filmore is doing well, despite some set backs. Although his
tilt has not improved, it has not gotten worse. Keeping Filmore happy
and healthy could not be done without your wonderful support.
THANK YOU!!
Hi, I'm Filmore and as you can see, I have a little bit of
head-tilt. My humans kept me in an outdoor hutch for over 3 years, in
a small cat carrier inside the hutch. It was very scary and lonely out there
all alone, and it was small and cramped. It was too hot in the
summer, and too cold in the winter. I wasn't happy at all - the
only contact I had with my humans was when they brought me food or
water.
Then I got an inner ear infection, and it really hurt, and it caused
my head to tilt, and I could only run around in circles because I was
so dizzy. My humans didn't take me to a doctor, so it never got
better, and I lived like that for a while. I never lost faith in
people and I always craved attention and love, but my humans didn't
want to give me any, and eventually they decided they didn't want me
any more, not even outside, so they called 3 Bunnies.
The first thing 3 Bunnies did was rush me to the doctor, and
that's when they found that I had an inner ear infection. My head was
tilted 90 degrees (whatever that means) and the whole world was
sideways to me, and it wasn't fun at all. Now I'm
getting medicine for it and the nice people at 3 Bunnies are
helping me recover, and I'm getting all kinds of attention and cheek
rubs (which I just love!!) I'm so glad I'm with people who care about
me now, and are taking care of me and helping me get better.
I'm hoping that soon I'll recover enough that someone will adopt me
and give me a loving home inside with the rest of the family, so I can
get more attention and cheek rubs! I don't ever want to live in an
outdoor hutch again - that's no life for a bunny.

This is my friend Benny,
and he also has head-tilt. He knows
just what I am going through, and he is helping sponsor me to help me
get better (even though Rebecca, his human, has to write the checks).
Rebecca loves him very much. I hope someday to have humans of my own
that love me that much!! Benny is really lucky to have such
loving humans, and he is such a good friend to help sponsor me.
I also want to thank Lori for helping to sponsor me so I can
get better and eventually find a loving home where I can be happy.
My medical care is pretty expensive, so if you'd also like to sponsor
me on my road to recovery, I'd really appreciate it (and maybe someday
I could pay you back in bunny kisses).

And I want to thank Thyrza for sending a donation in loving
memory of " Littie Man",
the cat who loved all. Binkies and tooth purrs to you for helping.
My foster family just told me I have more people to thank, too!!
George and Kim are so kind to help sponsor me, as are
Ron and Christina!! I can't thank you all enough, but I will
do lots of binkies in celebration. It's so nice to know so many
people care!! And thanks to Natalie D. for helping to sponsor
me as well - you are all such wonderful people!! And thanks to
Michael L. for sponsoring me too!!! And thanks to
Hayley and Victoria!! And thanks to the loving memory of bunny
R-liss (aka Foo), from Nikki. And thanks to Paula C.
And thanks to Alison. And thanks to Katelyn Green.
Thanks for reading!!

This big sweet baby is one of three surviving rabbits recently
found at the Twin Brooks Park in Trumbull CT.
The Trumbull ACO was called to the park where 10 dead rabbits were
found strewn about. After retrieving all the dead bodies, and
returning to the shelter, the ACO was called back to the park,
where Spirit was found alive.

3 Bunnies In Pets Press Newspaper
| |
3 Bunnies Rabbit Rescue has been in
Pets Press
monthly newspaper. We
list an adoptable rabbit/s and put in an ad. We are sometimes
featured in other areas of the paper and are often asked rabbit
questions of the paper when they are writing articles. Susan Curtiss
answers the bunny expert questions in the paper. To find out where to
get this free newspaper, go to
www.petspress.net.
You can also subscribe to the paper and get it delivered in the mail. It is a
great pet resource paper and some of our local, fellow rescues are
also in it.
