Shelters In Crisis!!
Shelters across the country are in crisis right now, overloaded with unwanted rabbits who are in danger of being euthanized. Blame it on Easter "impulse purchases" or simply the amazing reproductive capabilities of rabbits, but once again this year, If you can find room in your home, please consider helping your local shelter or rescue by adopting or fostering a bunny in need - you'll be saving a life. Literally.

Easter And Bunnies Don't Mix

Please Don't Give Pets As Gifts!!
Shelters and rescues are inundated with animals that were given as gifts to people who didn't really want them and don't know how to take care of them. They expect this year to be no different, beginning on the day after Christmas. Please don't give a live animal as a gift - give a stuffed plush toy instead, or consider making a donation to a rescue or shelter in someone's name as a gift. Just please don't give a live animal as a gift - it requires a lifelong commitment to the pet, and too often they get shortchanged. Thanks!!

Hi, I'm Brownie. Some people call me BOO!. I had a home once, but it wasn't a good home. In fact, it was a very bad home. I think my family liked me at one time, but I don't know what happened - they stopped liking me. And they stopped feeding me!! No food at all!! The only thing I could find to eat was paper and plaster, and that wasn't very good - I didn't like it at all, but I was so hungry, and my family just wouldn't give me any food. I'm very sweet, gentle, and loving, so I don't know why they decided to starve me, but they did. I was so lonely, and so hungry, and so sad. But no one cared.

Then one night, they had a party at the house. Their friends were even meaner - they thought it would be fun and entertaining to kick me around the house. I tried to hide, but they kept finding me, and they kept kicking me. It really hurt, and my family didn't do anything to stop it - they thought it was funny. I was really sad. I didn't do anything to deserve being starved or kicked around, but they didn't care. I guess they really wanted me to just go away. But where would I go? How would I get out? What would I do?

Luckily, there was one nice person at the party, and they were quite upset at the way everyone was treating me, so they put me under their coat and snuck me out of the house. I was so happy that at least one person cared enough about me to do something. They nursed me back to health, and they gave me food (real food, yummy food!), and for the first time in a long time I felt good. I wasn't hungry, I wasn't sad, and I wasn't in pain. I'm glad I'm not with my family any more - they weren't nice people.

Now I'm at 3 Bunnies and things are really looking up. The nice people here give me head rubs and face kisses and all kinds of attention, and I ADORE every bit of it!! I love people so much, and now I know that people love me too. I'm hoping that some nice people will adopt me and give me a wonderful forever home where I can enjoy sharing love with a family that will love me. I don't ever want to be hungry or sad or hurt again.

Thanks for reading!!
Brownie
