Shelters In Crisis!!
Shelters across the country are in crisis right now, overloaded with unwanted rabbits who are in danger of being euthanized. Blame it on Easter "impulse purchases" or simply the amazing reproductive capabilities of rabbits, but once again this year, If you can find room in your home, please consider helping your local shelter or rescue by adopting or fostering a bunny in need - you'll be saving a life. Literally.

Easter And Bunnies Don't Mix

Please Don't Give Pets As Gifts!!
Shelters and rescues are inundated with animals that were given as gifts to people who didn't really want them and don't know how to take care of them. They expect this year to be no different, beginning on the day after Christmas. Please don't give a live animal as a gift - give a stuffed plush toy instead, or consider making a donation to a rescue or shelter in someone's name as a gift. Just please don't give a live animal as a gift - it requires a lifelong commitment to the pet, and too often they get shortchanged. Thanks!!

Blinkers And Southpaw

Update October 1, 2007: Although Blinkers is no longer with us, her mate Southpaw still wants to let everyone know how he is doing. We have tried to find him a new mate, but it appears that Blinkers was his one and only hunny bun. However... Southpaw has a guinea pig friend!!! He and Miss Pickles seem to enjoy each others company
Update June 15, 2007: It is with a heavy heart that we report that Blinkers passed away early Friday (6/15/07) morning. Blinkers became full blown symptomatic E. cunniculi/Pasteurella. Her companion Southpaw stayed by her side, even in death. Southpaw is doing ok, though clearly misses his Blinkers. We hope to find him a new mate.
Everyone who sponsored Blinkers helped to let her live a wonderful life, and we thank you all.
Update May 9, 2007: Blinkers has been at the hospital. We noticed a more pronounced "crooked" look to the side of her face. No teeth problems and no mouth polyp, but Blinkers has some facial paralysis, causing a "droop" and she is unable to fully close her right eye. Similar to Bells Palsy in humans. Blood work is also being done. She and Southpaw are glad to be back "home"!! Update December 24, 2005: Blinkers has a sponsor!! Binkies and nosebonks to Kim!!
Hi, I'm Blinkers (I'm the dutch bunny on the right) and this is my best buddy, Southpaw. We've been waiting for a loving forever home for a very long time, and sometimes we get sad that no one has adopted us yet. We're very devoted and loving to each other, and we'd be as devoted to a nice loving family.

Southpaw is shy, but he's a really sweet and gentle soul, and he's a little bit goofy too. Okay, maybe more than just a little goofy, but I love him just the same. He prefers that humans just enjoy his company from a distance, and admire him for who he is. He's a really good friend to me. I have more attitude and can be a bit spunky at times, but once I get to know you, I adore body massages from humans.

Both of us have good litterbox habits, and we love making humans laugh by doing binkies. It's so easy to make humans laugh. They're funny, and they make us laugh too. We want so very much to have a family of our very own, and a nice forever home where we can love and be loved. Would you be our special humans?

Special thanks to the following people for helping sponsor Blinker's medical needs:
  • Kim
  • the loving memory of Lucky, Bailey and Cinnamon
  • Paige O. (love Aunt Sarah)
