We are very saddened to say that we were unable to save
Bebe and Taylor from their ultimate fate. So many people were
praying for them, and we feel just horrible. Shannon, one of their
sponsors, has written this memorial for them:
It's only fitting that you share your dedication, as you did your
lives.
Bebe, you always looked out for
Taylor, showing him the
way. You were his vision in his last years and his comfort and warmth
til the day he passed. You were a strong, plump little girl until you
too, could not hold on to life any longer. Your pain is over now and
we hope your last memories on earth were surrounded by those who loved
and truly cared for you like you always deserved.
Taylor &
Bebe's Story:
Taylor was a teeny black and white holland lop who used to live with a
family who's solution to not wanting him anymore was to let him go
into the wilds of the world. Fortunately before that happened, he was
taken by a woman who knew the family.
Taylor then spent a few years or
so in a backyard hutch. There, he developed cataracts and was
eventually moved indoors (where rabbits SHOULD be). Thankfully
Taylor
got a friend. A loving, caring friend at that, named
Bebe.
Bebe
nurtured and cared for
Taylor as his sight got progressively
worse.
Taylor used
Bebe as his "eyes" and to help him get around, find
his food and use the litter box. Unfortunately,
Taylor never received
the veterinary care he so desparately needed and he was not let out of
his cage to romp and play. He was now completely blind and his back
legs were very weak from lack of movement and exercise.
Bebe was
overweight and didn't know what it was like to play and binky like a
bunny.
Due to family circumstances,
Bebe and
Taylor needed to find a new home
(yet again). 3Bunnies graciously took them in, despite
Taylor's
condition and
Bebe's "plumpness". Finally, after at least 6 years of
life,
Taylor got the love, care and medical attention he so
desperately needed and 3Bunnies vowed to only let them go to a home
that could care for them and specifically
Taylor's disabilities (as
well as keep up with
Bebe's long overdue diet).
Sadly,
Taylor's health detoriorated despite the continued love and
efforts of his foster mom, Mona. The cataracts and infections had
taken a toll on his frail little body and the prognosis was not
good. He was suffering and in pain and there was nothing left that
could be done. With his foster mom at his side,
Taylor was helped over
the bridge.
This sweet little soul survived so much hardship in his life. But when
he passed, it was with someone who finally loved him. He crossed the
bridge, having eventually known love from both humans and animals
(
Bebe & Lilly), the freedom to explore and the strength to never give
up on life, no matter how badly life treated him.
Taylor, you were one of a kind and will be missed by those who's lives
you've touched.
A few months later,
Bebe was suffering as well, from bladder
problems. Despite continued efforts and veterinary care, the very
tough decision was made. Again, with Mona by her side,
Bebe too was
helped over the bridge and
Taylor was there waiting for her.
Bebe, you were a little clown when you wanted to be. I can remember
you scootching up the scatter rugs in the kitchen, smoothing it out
with your paws and then running away from me when I came over to see
what you were doing. You were a brave little girl til the end.
Rest in peace babies...you are now together once again.
Bebe is currently unavailable due to medical issues
Bebe has a sponsor!! Binkies to
Shannon!!
We are very saddened to say that Taylor left for the Rainbow Bridge.

Hi everyone, I'm
Bebe and this is my bestest friend,
Taylor. I'm a Dutch bunny, about 4 years old, and
Taylor is a Holland lop, and he's about 6 years old.
Taylor can't see anything, because he has cataracts (I don't
know why they call it that, since he's a bunny, not a cat), so I help
him out by giving him lots of kisses and snuggles to let him know that
everything is okay. I think he'd be lost without me, but you know, I
think I'd be lost without him too! I'm a little bit overweight
(that's what the humans say, anyway - I think I look perfectly fine,
thank you), so I'm on a diet and I'm getting lots of exercise.
Because
Taylor is blind, he's kind of mellow, but he does love
to romp in the hay boxes. I'm more active, and I like to binky and
jump in and out of, and on top of, the cat condos we have. It's a lot
of fun.
Both of us are really hoping to find our next loving home, and we hope
it's our forever home. We would do best in a quieter home, especially
since
Taylor can't see what's going on, and we'd love to have a
play area set up for us - either an exercise pen or maybe a small room
of our own.
Taylor wouldn't do so well having free run of the
whole house - I think it would just overwhelm him, and he deserves to
feel secure.
Are you that special person who can give us our special home that we
need? We sure hope so. We'll give you lots of love in return.
Speaking of love, I have to go kiss and snuggle
Taylor now -
he's starting to wonder where I am.
But before I go,
Taylor and I want to thank
Kathy and also
Shannon for sponsoring us, and helping to pay for our expenses!!
You are both our heroes, and someday we hope to pay you back in bunny
kisses and nosebonks and snuggles!!
Thanks for reading!!
